I have spent a lot of money and made a lot of mistakes visiting New York City and I’m writing this blog post so you don’t make the same ones.
Time Square
Avoid Time Square like the plague. Don’t stay there. Don’t eat there. Don’t do anything but walk through time square on the way to a more exciting part of the city.
The NYC Subway During Rush Hour
The New York City subway is a miracle of engineering but a hot mess during rush hour. Plan your day so that you can avoid riding the subway at peak times.
NYC Restaurants From TV Shows
Sure they look great on tv but in real life, they are often overpriced and awful. Restaurants from Sex & The City? Awful. The restaurant from Scienfield? Meh.
Walking Too Much
I know I just told you not to ride the subway during rush hour, but walking too much can also be an issue. In smaller cities like Montreal or Boston, it is easy to walk across town but in NYC the miles add up quickly.
Chain Stores
Did I ever tell you about the huge TJ Maxx on Wallstreet? No, because I’ve never been in it. Visiting chain stores in one of the most expensive cities in the world is a waste of time and money.
